GARY in the Faros Islands

Hello Tim,

I rode the large ferry Nörrona for a 2nd time, from Føroya to Iceland's E fjords, where high winds and icy roads up high have me pinned down in the small town of Seyđisfjörđur for 2 nights in deep wet snow.

Couldn't bear the thought of hanging out with the arrogance of youth, so am in pricey guesthouses alone... I mean I am the only person in the entire two-storey building.

Iceland has a population of 330 000 and last year 1.6 million visited.  I think I will come again in a future winter due to the absence of people - 45 pax on the ferry that has 1482 berths.  And each berth is filled throughout all of summer.

Føroyar (the Faroe Islands) was spectacular and worthwhile - many under-sea tunnels link the islands I visited.

More on my fb page if you use that.

With regards and good health for 2018,

- Gary

Brains

In his first book  Norman Doidge wooed millions with his tale of a plastic brain," THE BRAIN THAT CHANGED ITSELF ",that billions of cells cris crossedthe cranial vault, like flight paths, but whos routed weren't fixed, and could divert round stormy weather,
Orthodoxy has cast the brain as mallieablein infancy, but once the basics light sight and hearing were soldered in,that was your wiring diagram  for life.
The Neuroplastic brain is a work in progress, constantly learning and shaped by experiences.
The Cortex the brains outer layer, was a generic hard drive, that keep you balanced or fix your gaze are not indispensable , if taken out by stroke, tumour or similar their function can, with a little high tech coaching,be hosted at a different  cortical address..
Douglas Coupland maintained the greatest challenge to human life to day "will the individual triumph, or will the mob impose itself onto everone else "
The way to surviveis " is to figure out what you actually like doing-then do it " in that way you'll always be engaged and interested.
many people go to the grave without ever figuring out what they enjoy doing
