STIMSON STREET GUILFORD DEVELOPMENT

In the post war years the Housing Commission calculated reasonable rent as 25% of gross wage.
But times have changed and now some tennants are paying up to 50% of their salary as rent..It demonstrates the need to buy a house during your working life so you can survive retirement living in a house fully paid for.
So now we see the arrival of alternative housing ideas ,the development of a four story block of 23 studio apartments .Built with modular container units fabricated in China and lifted into place by crane in two days.

The building is located on 800 square meters of land ,approxamately 400 meters from Guilford station, it is a pilot study by Evolve housing ,featuring a common room on the ground floor and a caretakers apartment, which makes the build unique.
Inside it is fitted with metal stairs and a lift.
There is a proposal to fit solar panels on the roof to provide electricity.
