HOW TO Vote in NSW Election
To Day I received my one meter long postal vote form, a little daunting having to digest 346 names of candidates ,mostly unknown contesting for the government of New South Wales.
There are 19 Groups or parties,some without names,eg Group S.Group L and Group H
WHAT Do THEY Stand For ?
An interesting question as little information is provided on any party except the Greens.
To vote responisbly it is necessary to use a computer to check the various parties policies.
This takes a minimum of one hour to research the 19 Groups.
Many elderly citizens are not computer literate,so are unable to know the various party policies.
Because voting is compulsory ,this could result in a high informal vote or votes for unknown parties.
Some may take pot luck and number the squares 1 to 19 .so politicians could be elected without consideration.
Voting for the Upper house the job is a lot easier, with only seven candidates each from known parties.
the Legislative Assembley is far more effective..
Dont forget this is the Lucky Country and a result is only for three years so we will retain our reputation for political volatility .Yo Ho Me bucaneers !
