OLD TOWN - NEWTOWN

Newtown scene.
After a refreshing swim at our local baths I Opeled my way to King street Newtown.Bus tickets are called Opel cards  to meet Sheila for a film at the Dendy.
Unfortunately it was holiday time and the theater was packed, and we were unable to buy tickets to our chosen show.
Newtown took its name from a grocery store opened in 1832 by John and Margaret Webster, close to the railway station.Placing a sign on their store "New Town Stores "
If you got in early, and purchased property in Newtown you could now be a millionaire.

We now had the opportunity to choose from over 200 cafes or resturants to sample international cousine ,or in the venhacular grub.
Without much delay we choose a Thai cafe, with outdoor tables and chairs,on the pavement so we could indulge in one of our passions, human behaviour.

Australia has benifited from 28 years of uninterrupted expansion of the"wonder down under" can be partly attributed  to one of the fastest population growth in the OECD,built on the back of not family fecundity, but exceptionally strong migration. We are the most multicultural country in the developed world, with more than 30% of our residents born overseas.
The result is Newtown has its very own character.
What better way to start our enjoyment than having a cold cider to trigger our endorphins.Followed by a spicy meal with rice and salads, all this for $40.
The passing parade was voluminous, short tall slim fat array of happy exuberant human beings on the move.Dressed in casual and creative clothing, without any obvious leisureware.
The scene was highlighted by a lack of sniffer dogs or police. Can you capture the smell of incense ?
Would an Instagram user post a picture and capture the total effect to bolster their ego,or allow the rest of the world to nourish the scene ?
Compared to eating at Double Bay where restaurants charge an extraordinary high prices for pureed
vegetables and staff treat their customers as adolescents. Its hard to understand why anyone would eat there.
Even Eastwood offers a range of Asian meals,in a building close to the station you have a choice of over five cafes.
All I can say is thank god for our new migrants, providing inexpensive healthy food.Compared to the 1940's where meat and two vegs was standard tucker.
Although the country is forced to digest an avalanche of propaganda, there are snippets of natural environment and stimulating folk to interact with. But lots of these don't self promote,so luck is an essential commodity in the mix.

For an elder statesman your blogs have become quite sophisticated Mr Williams!
Next we know, you'll be a restaurant reviewer for the Sydney Morning Herald!
