Der Flug zu Berlin
After 27 hours flying your body is not in the best working condition and is in need of normalisation, unfortunately this did not happen to me as I got lost at Schiphol airport Amsterdam . This airport would be one of the busiest in Europe with thousands entering and leaving .
I had landed from Abu Dhabi and after passing through a very thorough customs search with my luggage x rayed had to find lounge D 84 .
There are six flight indicators each with 25 flight destinations , two flights toBerlin , I ended up after traversing a number of moving pathways at the wrong one . Anxious that I might mis my flight I asked a female buggy driver for assistance
Here was a young woman who knew her way round this vast complex ,and skilled in the art of weaving in and out of pedestrian traffic without using the horn to clear the way,we passed through passport control in a flash,I was deposited at the lift entrance and instructed to turn right for the exit lounge.
Nothing could be simpler but half way down this vast hall , I asked again of a yellow coated official ,who pointed to a lounge with authority ," this the flight to Berlin "
Down the escalator I went only to be trapped at the bottom by locked glass doors .My only exit was a
Black button which duly opened the door, but it also set off an alarm .
Ten minutes later I cas confronted by Peter a sturdy security guard and his partner , requiring an explanation . Fortunately my three boarding passes and passport verified my storey . Peter then kindly escorted me to lounge D 84 with this storey " I was not the first person to be lost at their airport and unlikely to be the last" Some security guards can be understanding.
The flight to Berlin went without any further hitches , I was fortunate to sit beside a young German student for a stimulating discussion ,and a meal.
Once more on land it was a simple task to queue for a 7 day transport kart which allows me extensive. E. U se of U. Bahn and SBahn, bus and light rail transport in zones AB and C ,there I've spent my first Euros .
The blue line SBahn travels all the way to Blaschkoalle where my accomodation is , another walk to 92a Franz-Korner Strasse where it was time to rest, and recharge .I had arrived.
