Olympia

1936  The 11th modern Olympic Games held in Berlin in August were a triumph for Hitler and a showcase of Nazi power. Put through a total modernisation in 2006 for the FIFA World Cup ,now with a spidery oval roof, snazzy VIP boxes, lighting ,sound and projection system . It seats up to 74,400 people.

 Usual tourist routine ,on the bus for Hermanstrasse early,train to Westkreuz change for the U7 Spandu line
exit at Olympicstadium where there are 5 platforms outside the stadiun enough for the large crowds expected..Its raining lightly so the photos wont be glissening.I attempted to go upstairs but was denied access.So moved round the large village watching swimmers train,soccer teams warm up and the equestrian centre which is  very impressive.


The stadium is constructed of large granit blocks,the entrance has two giant towers with the Olympic Rings stretched between.
