Spandau is a mix of green expanse,rivers ,industry, and rural residential areas wrapped round a medieval 16th century fortress, Spandauer Zitadelle.Older than Berlin by a few years,Spandau thrived as an independent city for nearly 800 years,and only became part of Berlin in 1920.
The Citadel on a little island in the Havel River is one of the best preserved Renaissance fortresses in the world.With its moat,drawbridge,and arrowhead-shaped bastions.

While waiting for my coffee and kaisabun in the station mall I happened to meet Gerald a Dutch born citizen now residing in Finnland also enjoying a coffee break,we found some mutually interesting subjects to discuss about life,its one of those moments that I consider gems finding a person with time and mental freedom to expose his ideas.Many thanks Gerald !
